Settings

Configure measurement units, weight units, appearance (dark/light mode), download folder preferences, and account management — all from the Settings panel.

Measurement Units

CutFlow supports two measurement unit systems. This setting applies globally — every width, length, and dimension field across all optimizer tabs switches to the selected unit.

Measurement Unit
Inches (in)
Imperial — e.g. 48.0 in
Millimeters (mm)
Metric — e.g. 1219.2 mm
Important: Changing the unit does not convert existing values — it only changes the label. If you switch from inches to mm, re-enter your values in millimeters. Make sure your DXF files are also in the same unit when using Nesting.

To change: go to Settings in the sidebar (bottom of the left panel), select your unit, and click Save Settings.

Weight Units

Weight units apply to the Inventory Planner — specifically the coil weight column in the master coils CSV.

OptionWhen to use
Kilograms (kg)Metric coil weights. Common outside the US.
Pounds (lbs)Imperial coil weights. Common in North America.

This setting does not affect cost calculation — that uses the price unit you select per job.

Appearance

Choose between dark and light mode. Both modes are fully supported across the entire application.

ModeDescription
DarkDark background with light text — easier on the eyes in low-light environments. This is the default.
LightLight background with dark text — high contrast for bright environments or printing screenshots.
You can also toggle the theme with the/button in the top-right corner of the app bar — without going into Settings. The preference is saved automatically.

Download Folders

By default, exported files (PDFs, CSVs, DXFs) save to your browser's default Downloads folder. You can override this with custom folder paths in Settings.

SettingControls
PDF folderDestination for all PDF report exports.
CSV folderDestination for all CSV exports (Parts Library, Inventory plans).
Set the PDF folder to a shared network drive or cloud-synced folder (e.g., OneDrive, Google Drive) so reports are automatically accessible to your team.
Custom download folders require Chrome, Edge, or Brave (File System Access API). Firefox and Safari will always use the browser's default Downloads folder regardless of this setting.

To reset to the default Downloads folder, click Reset to Downloads next to the folder path.

Account & Billing

The Account section at the bottom of Settings provides two options:

OptionDescription
Manage Billing & SubscriptionOpens the billing portal to update your payment method, view invoices, or change your plan.
Delete AccountPermanently deletes your account and all associated data. This action cannot be undone.
Before deleting: Export all important PDFs and CSVs first. All account data (templates, history, parts library, materials, settings) will also be permanently deleted when the account is removed.

Tips

Set your units first — before entering any job data, confirm your measurement and weight unit preferences in Settings. Changing units after entering data requires re-entering all values.

Share a PDF folder — point the PDF folder to a shared drive so your whole team has access to reports without needing to forward files.

Dark mode for shop floor displays — dark mode is easier to read on monitors in bright shop environments and reduces glare on screens viewed at an angle.
