PDF Reports & Exports

Generate professional PDF reports for any job — cutting pattern visualizations, KPI summaries, cost breakdowns, and production tables. Also export DXF layouts and CSV data for downstream use.

Overview

CutFlow produces export files in three formats across different tools:

PDF Report
Coil Slitting · Nesting · CTL · Inventory · History
Professional printable report with visualizations, KPIs, and tables.
DXF Export
Nesting
Nested layout as a DXF file — feed directly into laser/waterjet CAM software.
CSV Export
Inventory · Parts Library
Tabular data for use in spreadsheets or ERP systems.

Coil Slitting PDF

Available from the results panel after running a Coil Slitting optimization. Click ⬇ PDF Report.

Report contents

Report title and generation date/time
Job name (if provided)
KPI cards: master coils needed, total scrap, material efficiency
Each cutting pattern with a color-coded coil bar visualization — hatching on scrap segments
Pattern detail: width breakdown, trim per run, number of runs, total trim
Production summary table: required vs. produced per width, with item numbers
Cost estimate section (only if cost calculation was enabled)
The coil bar visualization uses diagonal hatching on scrap segments so the report is clear even when printed in black and white.

Nesting PDF

Available from the Nesting results panel. Click ⬇ PDF Report.

Report contents

Job name and date
KPI cards: sheets needed, total cuts, scrap area, efficiency
Layout diagram for each sheet — color-coded parts on a hatched background
Part labels showing rotation angle on each placed piece
Piece summary table: required vs. produced per part type
Cost estimate section (if enabled)

Cut to Length PDF

Available from the CTL results panel. Click ⬇ PDF Report.

Report contents

Job name and date
KPI cards: total passes, length settings (machine setups), overall efficiency
Per-length-group section with cut patterns and coil bar visualization
Strip production summary per group
Cost estimate section (if enabled)

DXF Export (Nesting)

The Nesting tool offers a Export DXF button alongside the PDF Report button in the results panel.

The exported DXF contains:

Each nested part placed at its optimized X/Y position on the sheet
Each part rotated to its optimized angle
All parts as closed polylines — compatible with laser, waterjet, and plasma CAM software
Sheet boundary included as a reference rectangle
CAM workflow: Import the exported DXF into your machine's CAM software (e.g., Sheetcam, Hypertherm ProNest, Lantek) to generate the actual cutting program. No manual repositioning needed.
If multiple sheets are needed, each sheet's layout is exported as a separate layer in the DXF file. Check your CAM software's layer management to process each sheet correctly.

CSV Export

Two tools offer CSV export:

SourceButtonContents
Inventory Planner↓ CSVSlitting plans table — all widths, shortfalls, and pattern assignments.
Parts LibraryExport CSVComplete library as a CSV file — backup or edit in a spreadsheet.

Download Folders

By default, all exported files go to your browser's default Downloads folder. You can configure custom folders in Settings → Downloads:

SettingWhat it controls
PDF folderWhere all PDF reports are saved.
CSV folderWhere all CSV exports are saved.

Click Choose folder… next to each setting to browse to a custom location. Files then save directly to that folder without a browser save dialog.

This feature uses the File System Access API and requires Chrome, Edge, or Brave. Firefox and Safari use the browser's default download mechanism and cannot use custom folders.

Tips & Best Practices

Use PDF reports as work orders
The Coil Slitting and CTL PDFs are designed to be handed to floor operators. Add an item number for each width and the report becomes a complete, traceable work order.
Re-download from History
You don't need to re-run a job to get its PDF. Go to Run History, select the entry, and click PDF Report — the report is regenerated instantly from stored data.
DXF export for instant machine readiness
Nesting and cutting are combined into one step — optimize in CutFlow, export DXF, load into your CAM software, and cut. No manual layout work between steps.
Set a PDF folder for organized archiving
Set a dedicated PDF folder (e.g., a shared drive folder) in Settings so all reports automatically land in one organized location — no sorting needed.
